The Medthin™ coatings can be applied on many different substrate materials, including the full range of stainless steels, since the Medthin™ coating process preserves the original substrate hardness, sharp instrument tips and sharp edges for cleaner cuts.

The Medthin™ coating process is done in large vacuum chambers, so it is possible to fit in high quantities of instruments and tools at a very attractive price. Various Medthin™ hard coatings can be used for color coding. The Grey/black color of Medthin™ 20 AlTiN or Medthin™ DLCs prevent light reflection. Medthin™ 04 in the color Beach, which inhibits bacterial colonization and growth.

Medthin™ 01 TiN, gold colour, has superior adhesion to the substrate materials with good chemical stability when undergoing several cleaning and sterilization cycles, which makes it an ideal coating for medical instruments. The coating  is deposited at temperatures between 150 °C and 500 °C depending on the application and base material.

TiON coating for use in hospital environment

Medthin™ 04 TiON, has “sand beach” color or gray color. The coating evidenced considerable reduction of colony-forming units (CFU) in testing according to ISO 22196 which makes it an ideal coating for use in hospital environment. The coating is deposited at 300°C but it can be adapted to the temperature of the base material per request.

TiCN coating for medical instruments & hospital hardware

Medthin™ 10 TiCN has carbon inside the TiN cubic matrix strengthening and conferring a pink colour to this coating. TiCN has high wear resistance, high hardness, superior adhesion and is an excellent chemical barrier, which makes it an ideal coating for medical instruments and hospital hardware.  Its high resistance to alkaline and acidic cleaning and sterilization cycles makes it a superior alternative to chrome plating on surgical and dental instruments. Medthin™ 10 TiCN is deposited at temperatures between 150°C and 450°C. The wide range of temperatures allows for a variety of materials to be coated by means of adapting the deposition temperatures to suit the substrate materials without impacting geometries.

ADLC coating for surgical instruments

Medthin™ 43 ADLC is a dual layer coating with a SiC base layer followed by top  DLC (carbon) layer. The two layers confer to Medthin™ 43 ADLC extreme smoothness, high density and hardness. Medthin™ 43 ADLC has been designed to minimize the friction coefficient and ADLC can work against ADLC in dry mode. This fine coating requires a high level care in surface preparation prior to coating and it justifies to be used only if the top performance is required, such as nearly no wear and extremely low friction coefficient.
