The Mansfield Tool Coating Centre is the number one PVD supplier for tool coatings in the UK. Established in the 1990s, the centre has evolved from supporting the local HSS tooling market to handling 125,000 - 150,000 tools per month from tool manufacturers & regrinds UK-wide. We provide advanced PVD coatings for demanding automotive, aerospace, oil & gas and general engineering applications that require higher metal removal rates with cemented carbide tooling. We also support UK and Central European customers with coatings for emerging materials such as non-ferrous materials, composites and engineering plastics. As PVD supplier in the UK, we also offer low-temperature coatings for machine blades and knives, as well as FDA-certified coatings for food processing equipment. To complete our service offering, Ionbond Mansfield also offers a decoating and and a forming tool polishing service.

Ionbond Consett offers one of the most diverse coating technology portfolios of any PVD supplier globally. Established in 1982 at the arrival of PVD coating technology in the UK, the Consett Coating Centre is a state-of-the-art facility and the HQ for Ionbond UK. The centre boasts 8 chambers, including the three largest PVD coating chambers in the UK, ensuring best-in-class economies of scale for medium to high volume precision parts.

Serving the needs of different sectors

To best serve our customers, Ionbond offers cathodic arc, unbalanced magnetron sputtering, HIPIMS and PACVD (for diamond-like carbon coatings) coating processes. This ensures we can offer high-performance coatings for all component applications, for example aerospace, oil & gas and medical devices. We also provide high-quality decorative coatings for automotive interiors & audio, architectural hardware, kitchen & washroom, shop interiors, luxury goods (watches & jewellery) and sporting and leisure goods.

The right accreditations for critical applications

Serving such a diverse market, the centre has specific accreditations and approvals for Aerospace EN 9100 RevD and NADCAP (held since 2003, currently merit program), ISO 13485:2016 (Medical Devices) and ISO 9001:2015. Currently, we are preparing for ISO 14001 (Environmental) approval in 2022. With aerospace being one of our major specialities, we hold Airbus approval for WC-C:H (Tribobond™ 40) as well as TiN (Tribobond™ 01). Furthermore, we carry approvals from Rolls Royce and Pratt & Whitney, as well as many other blue-chip OEMs.
