Medthin™ 62 MoS2

Ultra low friction coating

Medthin™ 62 MoS2 is a new medical grade PVD coating. The amorphous molybdenum disulfide based coating has an exceptionally low coefficient of friction and a relatively high hardness. Medthin™ 62 MoS2 is recommended for surgical instruments and tools, in particular for minimally invasive surgery instruments and other medical devices that exhibit problems with metal on metal wear, galling or sticking and where lubrication is prohibited. It improves the sliding performance and wear resistance of stainless steels, titanium and cobalt chrome alloys. Medthin™ 62 MoS2 is deposited at temperatures as low as 200 °C. These low deposition temperatures allow for the deposition onto series of 300 and 400 pieces and precipitation hardened stainless steels with exceptional adhesion.
