Ionbond’s Diamondblack™ ADLC is a PACVD coating specifically developed for luxury and fashion goods. Its characteristic hardness and impact and scratch resistance combined with the noble black metallic look make the carbon based coating an ideal styling element for watches and fashion accessories. The gaseous process and the low coating temperature of < 200 ºC are ideal for the coating of complex shapes and delicate materials not possible through a common PVD process. The 2 – 3 µm thick coating keeps the structure of polished or matt surfaces without the need for post treatment. It withstands acidic and alkaline chemicals and solvents and it is hypoallergenic. Diamondblack™ ADLC can be stripped with a proprietary process. The coating is also used for mechanical components in watch movements due to its low friction properties. It reduces the need for lubrication and extends the time between services.
