Coatings for fuel and AdBlue® injection systems
For vehicles to achieve the future EU7 emission limits, modern common rail and unit injector systems need to operate at certain pressures. In the diesel engines of passenger cars and heavy trucks, that pressure is above 3.000. In gasoline engines, it is at 500 bar. To make sure vehicles can continue to meet the required fuel consumption and emission levels, Tribobond™ diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings are applied to various components that would otherwise suffer from wear.
Typical parts that benefit from the low friction and high hardness of DLC coatings are fuel or rather AdBlue® injection and high pressure pump components such as nozzle needles, control valves, needle seats and pump pistons.
