DLC Coatings for fuel injection system components

Modern common rail and unit injector systems on passenger car and heavy truck diesel engines operate at pressures of up to 3.000 bar and on gasoline engines at 350 bar in order to achieve EU6 emission limits. Tribobond™ DLC coatings are applied to various components that would otherwise suffer from wear and consequently cannot reach anymore the required fuel consumption and emission levels over the product lifetime. Typical parts that benefit from the supportive, low friction and high hardness DLC coatings are fuel injection and high pressure pump components like nozzle needles, control valves, needle seats and pumping pistons.
