E-Mobility and Hydrogen ICE

Ionbond’s Tribobond 40 hard, carbon-based coatings are used for many purposes for example in internal combustion engines powered with hydrogen (HICE) and in battery electric cars (BEV). For instance, they are used to minimize the friction losses in drive trains to extend the driving range of electric cars but can also be used to protect moving components in hydrogen fuel injectors. Coated components for e-compressors, water pumps, sealing, steering and braking units increase the robustness and lower the energy consumption of non-drive train systems. Diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings are also used in fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) or electrolyzers for the production of “green” hydrogen: the coatings are applied to  bipolar plates to enhance their electrical conductivity and to increase the lifetime of the fuel cell stack.
