Ionbond Rockaway enhances DLC coating capacity to support growing medical instrument industry
With the addition of a cutting-edge Hauzer 1200 PVD/PACVD hybrid tool, we're geared up to meet the soaring demand for quick turnaround times from our surgical instrument clients.
State-of-the-art DLC coating hybrid tool for surgical instruments
In response to the increasing demand for quick turnaround times from its surgical instrument customers, Ionbond is excited to announce the expansion of its Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating capacity at the Rockaway Coating Center in New Jersey. This expansion comes in the form of a new Hauzer 1200 PVD/PACVD hybrid tool, adding to the existing fleet of coating machines.
The addition of this state-of-the-art equipment not only demonstrates Ionbond's commitment to meeting customer needs, but also reflects the company's commitment to remaining at the forefront of technological advances in surface coatings.
Ionbond's DLC coatings, marketed under the Medthin™ trade name, have gained significant traction in recent years, particularly within specialized surgical instrument applications, notably in orthopedics and spine applications. The Medthin™ 40 black and Medthin™ 42 coatings, renowned for their exceptional wear resistance, lubricity, low reflectivity, and aesthetic appeal, have seen a surge in demand.
New machinery speeds up coating services
With the installation of the new hybrid tool, Ionbond Rockaway will be able to offer even faster coating services to its customers. The machine has undergone delivery, installation, and is currently undergoing validation processes in accordance with ISO 13485 IQ/OQ/PQ methodology. It is expected to be fully operational and integrated into production by late March 2024.
