Medthin™ 60 ZrN

An alternative to TiN

Medthin™ 60 ZrN’s features very good wear resistance, low stress, high adhesion and an excellent chemical barrier function. It is an alternative to Medthin™ 01 TiN.

Implants coated with a Medthin™ 60 ZrN top layer show wear reduction of at least 65% on the UHMWPE counterpart. Reduction of wear debris helps reducing inflammation processes that can lead to implant revision.

Medthin™ 60 is suitable for implant systems with Coating on Coating (CoC) contact, for spine applications trauma and fixation components.

The high resistance to alkaline and acidic cleaning and sterilization cycles, in combination with its other properties, makes it a superior alternative to chrome plating on surgical and dental instruments.

Medthin™ 60 ZrN is deposited at temperatures between 150 and 500 °C. This wide range of temperatures allows for a variety of materials to be coated by means of adapting deposition temperatures to the substrate materials and tempering without changing their properties and the geometries.
