Bernex™ 29 HSK

Bernex 29 HSK is suited for high-volume machining of low alloy and stainless steels at high cutting speeds and high temperatures. Due to its multi-layer composition the coating exhibits an exceptional toughness despite its hardness.

The κAl2O3 layer, as the functional layer, provides a particularly high hot-hardness and, at the same time, a very low thermal conductivity, which significantly increases tool lifetime. TiN, as a surface layer, protects the hard ceramic κAl2O3 layer from wear during the cutting start-up phase.

Bernex™ 29 HSK is applied at ca. 1000 °C by means of CVD and is suited for cemented carbide inserts.
