Tribobond™ 46 DLC

DLC coating for high temperature industrial components and high volume automotive applications

Ionbond’s Tribobond™ 46 DLC, CrN + a-C:H:W, coating is based on the excellent load bearing and high temperature properties of Tribobond™ 30 (CrN), with an extra low friction running-in coating on top. This results in a coating system that combines excellent running-in properties, a high load carrying capacity and fatigue resistance with a good wear resistance and a low coefficient of friction.

A good example of using Tribobond™ 46 DLC for its unique properties is components for exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems that run at higher temperatures of up to 600 °C.

After the initial running in and pairing of surfaces in contact, the base CrN coating takes over as the main functional layer in the system.


Hard and wear resistance coatings like Tribobond™ 46 DLC offer high load bearing capabilities combined with excellent counterparts protection in order to extend the lifetime of the components.
